A Korean perspective of Norway

Last updated: 30/01/2012 // “Journey and Norway” is the title of a Korean-made exhibition now on display at the KT&G SangsangMadang Design Square in Seoul.

The exhibition is made by Kim Ji-hwan and Jin Sol, a Korean couple who drew their inspiration for their artwork after a two week trip to Norway in October 2011. They visited Oslo, Myrdal, and Flåm, with the latter being their favorite place. Explaining that the nature of Norway left a big impression with them, the couple wanted to express their trip to Norway through their art to Koreans. “Small things can show the big difference from Korea,” says Kim Ji-hwan, mentioning that he perceived Norwegians to be very kind with a love for the forest. Nature is a big part of the design for “Journey and Norway,” and Norwegians can very much relate to the artwork.

This is the first time the couple has done an exhibition focusing on only one country, as they have been working and exhibiting designs for five years on London’s and Northern Europe’s metro systems. The KT&G SangsangMadang Design Square is located close to Hongik University in Seoul, and is a place where the artists easily can communicate with people. The “Journey and Norway” exhibition will be on display at the 6th floor café throughout February.
