For years, Norwegian music has had a strong footing in South Korea. Through the free webcast series ‘99 minutes’, the Korean audience is given the chance to get further acquainted with the variety of musicians that makes up the Norwegian music scene.
Already well-known in South Korea are Norwegian artists such as A-ha, Secret Garden, Kings of Convenience, Inger Marie Gundersen, and D-Sound. An increasingly popular music destination, South Korea is also attracting more and more Norwegian artists. So far this year, visiting artists include Haddy N’jie, up-and-coming star Lido Lido, violinists Stephan Barrat-Due and Chung Sun-mi, and melancholy rock band Bellman. With many more still scheduled to come for the remaining part of 2012.
The Embassy invites you to get to know more Norwegian Music, through the webcast series ’99 minutes’. The cast is put together by one of the country’s most respected music journalists and DJs; Guttorm Andreasen aka DJ99, and features a carefully selected playlist offering some of Norway’s fines musicians. In celebration of one of the Norwegian music scene’s strongest traits; its diversity and the blurry lines between different genres and styles; DJ99 has put together a variety of tracks that range from cutting-edge electronica to metal, jazz and indie.
