Three renowned Norwegian jazz performers visit Korea the following months: Ketil Bjørnstad, Dag Arnesen Trio and Inger Marie Gundersen.
Ketil Bjørnstad should be known to most - a Norwegian multi-artist, being among other writer and jazz pianist. Dag Arnesen Trio consists of Dag Arnesen on the piano, Ellen Andrea Wang on bass guitar and Pål Thowsen on drums. Arnesen is a leading Norwegian jazz pianist. Thowsen is one of the best jazz drummers in Europe, whereas Wang is a promising newcomer. The trio now wants to explore Asia, after receiving such great reviews here the last years. In 2008 Asia's largest newspaper, South China Morning Post, chose their album "Norwegian Song" as one of the top 50 releases in the world, regardless of genre.
Inger Marie Gundersen is anything but a newcomer in Asia, as this is her twelfth time touring the continent. This time she will play four releaseconcerts for her new album "For You". To illustrate her success in Korea, we might mention that the album is released in Korea before it is released in Norway.
Jarasum International Jazz Festival
Both Ketil Bjørnstad and Dag Arnesen Trio will perform at the Jarasum International Jazz Festival on Saturday, 1 October. Ketil Bjørnstad plays at the Jazz Island (main stage) at 18.30 and Dag Arnesen Trio at the Jazz Cube stage at 23.00. The festival is held on Jara Island in Gapyeong from 1 to 3 October and this year it will be celebrated for the 8th time. The festival has over the years grown to one of the biggest in Korea, and around 50 Korean and international jazz performers participate in the festival. The artist who is awarded the first prize gets a scholarship and is to open the festival in 2012.
Both artists will also have seperate concerts prior to the festival.
