As a part of the Arctic Partnership Week 2016 in Busan, organized by the Korean Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the Norwegian Embassy co-hosted an afternoon session on policy and science cooperation with Korea Polar Research Institute (KOPRI). Tuesday the 29th of November marks the International Women Human Rights Defenders Day: a day used to celebrate the efforts of and highlight the challenges faced by female human rights defenders around the world. On the 17th of November, the Norwegian youth orchestra Young Strings of Norway held a long anticipated performance in the prestigious Seoul Arts Center. The string orchestra performed a range of works by both Norwegian and international composers, as well as a poignant rendition of the much loved Korean traditional tune Arirang, to the audience’s delight. Monday the 12th of September, two earthquakes of a significant magnitude were recorded in South Korea. The epicentre was near the city of Gyeongju, and the first quake was recorded at 5.1 on the Richter Scale, while the other measured 5.8.
