Norwegian State Secretary Laila Bokhari to South Korea

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Seoul is pleased to announce the visit of State Secretary Ms Laila Bokhari of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to South Korea from the 5th to the 7th of December. Ms Bokhari’s visit will highlight the bilateral relationship and good collaboration enjoyed between Norway and South Korea in several areas, among these, gender equality and Arctic research.

Ms Bokhari will on Monday the 5th attend the Nordic Gender Equality Forum, hosted by the Nordic Embassies and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in Seoul. The State Secretary will give a talk on Norwegian policy on gender equality, successes and failures, and the efforts to increase the number of women in senior and leadership positions.

The State Secretary will then travel down to Busan where she, on Tuesday the 6th of December, will attend the opening of Arctic Partnership Week 2016. Arctic Partnership Week is week-long event put on by the Korean Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, which explores and highlights Arctic research, its advancements and implications. Norway, as the only foreign party, is organizing an afternoon session on Korean-Norwegian Arctic cooperation together with the Korea Polar Research Institute on Wednesday the 7th of December.

Ms Bokhari will, during the course of her visit, meet with several Korean ministers and representatives, to strengthen and discuss the bilateral relationship between Norway and South Korea.
