New exhibition at Samgakji-station.

Last updated: 24/05/2012 // 15 May the Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry Trond Giske opened a brand new exhibition at the Samgakji metro station in Seoul. The new exhibition focuses on the nature, culture and people of the Norwegian coastline.

The Living Ocean and coast is the theme of the EXPO 2012 in Yeosu. This theme is most fitting for Norway, as it has an over 25 000 kilometre long coastline.  «We were inspired by the Norwegian pavilion at the Expo, and wanted to bring this concept to Seoul!» proclaimed the Norwegian Ambassador to South Korea, Torbjørn Holthe, when asked about the new exhibition.

By bringing the exhibition to a public space it is displayed to a large audience of ordinary Koreans. «Having a low threshold for sharing natural and cultural experiences is important – as it can open doors of friendship on a people to people basis. » explained Ambassador Holthe.

The common denominator of a vivid coastal culture provides a range of opportunities for co-operation and cultural contact between Norway and South Korea, opportunities which this exhibition seek to promote.

Before you head to Samgakji to have a look yourself, here is a sneak peek:
