Unni Løvlid at Once in a Blue Moon

In connection to her new trip to Seoul, and a project bringing her to the 2009 World Festival of Theatres, Norwegian artist Unni Løvlid will also hold a concert at the jazz club Once in a Blue Moon. The concert will be held with Terje Isungset.

During her last visit to Korea, Unni Løvlid cooperated with the renowned poet Ko Un in a performance featuring Korean translations of one of Norway’s most celebrated poets Olav H. Hauge. This project was part of a larger tour which resulted in a new and well received album – “Seven Winds” – which feautures guest artists from a wide range of countries.

Løvlid is known for making music that meshes both the traditional and modern, and is considered to be one of the most exiting folk music performers in Norway today. She uses her background from traditional folk music in a variety of ways – from traditional compositions, to more contemporary works, as well as jazz and electronica.

Terje Isungset is also respected in his own right. He is one of Europe’s most accomplished and innovative percussionists, in addition to being an active composer with a bacground from jazz music. One of his innovative methods is that he crafts his own instruments from materials associated with Norwegian nature; wood, stone, and even ice! Samples of music by Løvlid and Isungset can be found on their respective webpages (links on the right).

The concert at Once in a Blue Moon requires no tickets, so be sure to join!
