On the 1st of May, the Nordic Design and Art Exhibition opens up at the Total Museum of Comtemporary Art in Seoul . Norwegian furniture brands, and Norwegian artists will be contributing to the exhibition.
The exhibition starts on the 1st of May, and will be open until the 24th. More information on the museum itself can be found here. Initiator and curator of the exhibition is Ms. Amie Ann.
The exhibition will be showing various furniture brands from Nordic European countries, thus exemplifying typical “Scandinavian Design” traditions. The exhibition also focuses on design as an interactive medium, a fact that will be specifically underlined in a “children’s section” of the exhibition.
Furniture brands like Rybo and Stokke will take part as examples of Norwegian furniture traditions. In addition, Ms. Anna Daniell and Mr. Sverre Strandberg – resident artists at the Changdong Art Studio – will contribute with their own work.

Ms. Daniell and Mr. Strandberg are both active artists from Norway, working mainly with sculpture and photography. Thematically, their works often revolve around a discussion on an object's economic value, seen against its artistic value. Another recurring theme is a discussion on copies of artwork and their relation to original pieces.
For this exhibition the new works of Daniell & Strandberg are inspired by their stay in Korea. Many of the works utilise commercial products as building blocks. For instance, in the work "Scream", a collection of souvenirs on Edvard Munch's famous painting (bought on Ebay)comprise a still life photo. The low value of the Scream souvenirs transforms into a valuable original yet again. The key question is then; what would Scream be without its reproductions and copies?

Ms. Daniell and Mr. Strandberg will also partisipate in an exhibition at the Nataional Art Studio. The opening reception wil be April 30., 6pm.
