Last updated: 09/05/2012 // The Norwegian team cooked their way to gold and first place in the prestigious chef competition Global Chefs Challenge in Daejon.

Before the finals there have been seven qualifying matches in the WACS regions globally. The seven finalist teams each prepared a four course menu for twelve people.

The Norwegian team's winning menu consisted of a lush vegetarian dish for starter, two main dishes centering around halibut and ox breast, and a delicious strawberry based desert.

The competition is considered very prestigious . «We are so happy! This was fun.» is the spontaneus reaction from Geir Magnus Svae and Christer Rødseth. «We have been waiting for the result for over a day and the gutfeeling has been going up and down.»

The United Arab Emirates Dubai took the silver medal and Canada the bronze. The next Global Chefs Challenge will in fact take place in Norway, when the international chefs congress WACS will be hosted in Stavanger.

The Norwegian ambassador to South Korea, Torbjørn Holthe, was also very happy with the event: «South Korea has done an excellent job with the hosting of WACS and the Global Chefs Challenge in Daejon. After such a successful oucome one can only look forward to the follow-up in Stavanger in 2014!»
